"Respect Enjoy Achieve"
Headteacher welcome highlights Glenmead as a caring, inclusive and nurturing school with a strong sense of community. It emphasizes high aspirations for all pupils, an inclusive approach to learning, and a partnership with families. The core values are Respect, Enjoy and Achieve, and the school aims to provide opportunities beyond the classroom and to help pupils thrive socially, academically and emotionally.
Glenmead is committed to being an inclusive school and welcomes all families and pupils. The school recognises SEND as Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and describes categories of need (Cognition and Learning; Communication and Interaction; Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties; Sensory and/or physical needs). All pupils have support within lessons through adaptive techniques and quality first teaching strategies. The SEND information is available in the SEND Information Report (Glenmead SEND Information Report 2024.pdf). The school notes that it is a Trauma Informed and Attachment Aware School (TIAAS) with bronze certification and ongoing work toward silver certification. The SENDCo is Mrs Steatham.
Glenmead admits 30 pupils in each admission round (1 class). Admission Criteria (as stated): 1) Looked after or previously looked after children. 2) Children with a brother or sister already at the school who will still be in attendance in September (with sub-conditions for relatedness). 3) Children who live nearest the school. Within each category, priority is given to those who live nearest the school. Children with an EHC Plan are required to be admitted to the named school and this is not an oversubscription criterion. If parents are unhappy with the allocated school, they may appeal.
