The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is divided into seven areas of learning and development: Prime Areas - Communication and Language (Listening, Attention & Understanding; Speaking), Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (Self-Regulation; Managing Self; Building Relationships), Physical Development (Gross Motor Skills; Fine Motor Skills); Specific Areas - Literacy (Reading; Writing; Comprehension); Mathematics (Number; Numerical Pattern); Understanding the World (Past & Present; People, Culture & Communities; The Natural World); Expressive Arts and Design (Creating with Materials; Being Imaginative & Expressive). The prime areas underpin all the other areas of learning and lay the foundations for children’s success. Big Cat Collins reading scheme used in Reception, Key Stage 1 and for some children in Key Stage 2; books allocated based on current phonics level. Systematic synthetic phonics programme based on the structure of the 2007 government document ‘Letters and Sounds’. Guided Reading - KS1 and KS2; Whole-class “Active Reading” model; daily guided reading sessions from Y1; KS2 typically receives 1-2-1 phonics when needed; texts increase in length and complexity as pupils move up the school. SeeSaw used to view children’s learning; QR codes provided to view work. The National Curriculum Programmes of Study for Year 1 to Year 6 available via year-group links. Weekly music lessons with a qualified music teacher; Peripatetic music lessons across string, woodwind and brass; Use of Waltham Forest Music Service for CPD; Music supports cross-curricular reading; Performances for pupils, parents and governors; Music history from Medieval to Modern; Various ways of listening and responding to music.

Breakfast Club: 7.45am until the start of the school day; Based in the hall; £5.00 per session (weekly £25.00); open to all children in full-time education; Pre-booking required. After School Club: 3.30pm to 6.00pm; snacks provided; £12.50 per day; open Monday to Friday, term-time only; pre-booked for a minimum of 2 days; email [email protected].
