Headteacher Mr J M Rose welcomes families and describes The Heathland School as a place where every child deserves a great school on their doorstep, supported by talented staff to achieve exceptional outcomes. The school emphasises a broad, enriching curriculum, a strong ethos of Commitment to Excellence, high standards, a diverse and inclusive community, and a track record of university successes for Sixth Form. The message conveys that pupils should flourish, develop confidence and create lasting, happy memories at Heathland.

Curriculum Highlights

Core EBacc emphasis (English, Mathematics, Science, Languages and Humanities). RE is taught to GCSE as a statement of our commitment to tolerance and inclusivity. A wide range of GCSE courses including the Arts (Art, Photography, Music, Drama; Performing Arts), Design and Technology (Food and Nutrition; Design and Technology; Art and Design Textiles), i-media, Travel and Tourism and Sport, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Geography, History, Languages (French/Spanish), English, Mathematics, and more. In Key Stage 4 there are five pathways to meet pupil needs, with options including Triple Science, Core, IT or Travel & Tourism, Food or Sport, English and Mathematics, EAL Support and a variety of other subjects such as Art, Computer Science, Drama, Music, Performing Arts, Photography, Textiles, and more. In Sixth Form, there is a wide range of A Level subjects and Vocational courses, EPQ, and progression support; the Sixth Form is described as the largest in the borough with strong university progression.

Admissions Criteria

The Heathland School follows the London Borough of Hounslow admission policy. For in-year admissions (Years 7–11), parents must contact the School Admissions Team; if a place is available, the Local Authority informs parents in writing and the school should be contacted to arrange an interview with the Deputy Head (Pupil Support). Sixth Form admissions require meeting entry requirements for A level courses: Core Pathway (3 A levels) requires a total point score of at least 44 in the best 8 subjects with at least a grade 5 in Mathematics and English Language; Extended Pathway (4 A levels) requires a total point score of at least 56 with at least a grade 5 in Mathematics and English Language; there are Additional Subject Specific Criteria for various subjects; first priority is given to students from within the school (internal), with external applicants considered subject to availability; it will not be permitted for students to repeat the same course.
