The Principal describes The Purcell School as a lively, vibrant and energetic community of young musicians, with visiting staff who are active performers and educators; emphasises world-class musical training, an integrated curriculum, and the aim of developing the whole person.

Admissions Criteria

The Purcell School seeks exceptionally talented young musicians aged 11–18 who show outstanding potential. We look for evidence of musical skill, desire, commitment and potential. Applications are submitted via our online admissions platform; auditions are held; first study pianists must perform from memory; a sight-reading test and some aural tests; outcomes are normally communicated within three weeks.

School fees from September 2025: Boarding £52,175 per year (annual) or £17,392 per term; Day £40,864 per year or £13,621 per term. From September 2026: Boarding £54,262 per year or £18,087 per term; Day £42,498 per year or £14,166 per term. Audition fee £120; Application/Audit fee £120. VAT applies to non-MDS families.
