Curriculum Highlights

Ambitious, inclusive curriculum designed to help pupils know more and remember more, with explicit connections across subjects and year groups. Curriculum is logically organised with explicit vertical, horizontal and diagonal connections; learning builds on prior knowledge and is revisited through retrieval practice. The curriculum uses Rosenshine’s Principles of instruction (e.g., Walkthroughs, cold calling, probing questions, feedback that moves forward, checks for understanding). Emphasis on vocabulary, metacognition, self-regulation and adaptive teaching (scaffolds, models, word banks, quizzes, gradual release). Curriculum includes enrichment opportunities such as Book Week, STEAM Week, Safer Internet Day, Anti-Bullying Week, Autism Awareness Week, Deaf Awareness Week, and off-site visits to galleries, museums, theatres and farms. Termly curriculum newsletters are sent to parents to inform learning and suggest home support. Cultural capital is taught through a range of experiences and subjects, designed to reflect diverse cultures and places.
