Curriculum Highlights

Ambitious, knowledge-rich curriculum designed so pupils 'know more and remember more' with explicit vertical, horizontal and diagonal connections across subjects and year groups. Curriculum is designed with scope and adaptation to reflect pupils' varied backgrounds and barriers to learning, aiming for progress for all. Curriculum Implementation uses Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction, including WalkThroughs, Cold Calling, Probing Questions, Process Questions, Saying it again better, and Checking for Understanding, with Thinking Maps and vocabulary emphasis; adaptive teaching, dual coding, scaffolds and models. Cultural capital is developed through a range of experiences and opportunities beyond the National Curriculum, including enrichment opportunities and off-site visits. Enrichment opportunities include Book Week, STEAM Week, Safer Internet Day, Anti-Bullying Week, Autism Awareness Week, Deaf Awareness Week, and visits to galleries, museums, theatres and farms. Curriculum areas highlighted include Little Wandle Phonics, Spelling, Handwriting, Reading.
