St James CofE Primary School offers 30 places in each year group from Reception to Year 6. In the event of oversubscription, the Governors apply the following criteria in order: Looked after or previously looked after children; Siblings; Remaining places allocated equally between faith-based (attending church for public worship at least once a month for 12 months) and community-based applicants, with distance used to break ties (nearest address). If the remainder is odd the extra place goes to faith-based applicants. A Supplementary Information Form is required for faith-based criteria. Children with Education Health Care Plans named to St James CofE Primary School are admitted regardless of oversubscription criteria.
Nursery: All 3-4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours of nursery provision across 38 weeks; some are entitled to 30 hours. 15 hours can be taken at the beginning or end of the week; 30 hours (Mon–Fri) 9:00am–3:00pm. Government funding is not intended to cover the cost of food or additional hours. Additional hours such as breakfast club, extended day, top up hours, or attendance during school holidays are charged to parents. A deposit of £50 is required to secure a place.
