Curriculum Highlights

Science: Bringing Science to life; working scientifically through observing over time, pattern seeking, identifying, classifying and grouping, and fair testing. PSHE: follows Ealing's PSHE scheme of work; three core themes—Health and Well-being, Living in the Wider World, Relationships; RSHE aligned with Ealing RSHE framework. Music: instruments including Keyboards, Ukuleles, Djembe and Cajon Drums, Steel Pans and Glockenspiels; performing, composing, listening and responding; links to Caribbean, Samba and Indian music within Topic learning. DT: design and technology taught explicitly; Cooking and Nutrition and Mechanisms/Structures studied every year; Textiles studied once in each phase; Electrical control in years 4 and 6; iterative design process. History: units taught over three half-terms per year; focus on key knowledge, understanding and skills; topics such as Empire Windrush and Early Islamic Civilisation; visits and resources to enrich learning; supports SMSC and British Values. PE: Complete PE scheme; at least 2 hours of PE per week in KS1/KS2; fortnightly PE lesson with a PE specialist; opportunity to swim at least 25m; includes extracurricular activities and a sports day. Science: assessment is continuous and ongoing and evidenced through the marking policy; formal tasks at topic starts/ends, mini-quizzes or final writing to demonstrate understanding.
