"All Believing, All Achieving"
At All Saints’, Religious Education plays an important role in teaching and learning and is at the centre of the distinctive Christian nature of our school. As a Church of England School, we follow the Southwark Diocese Board of Education Syllabus and schemes of work. We believe that it is important for all our pupils to learn from and about religion, so that they can understand the world around them. In addition to learning about the beliefs, teachings, practices and lifestyles of Christianity, children are taught about aspects of other major world religions; Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism. RE plays an important role in promoting social awareness and understanding in our children and our curriculum reflects the overall vision, aims, values, and philosophy of the school. We encourage our pupils to ask questions about the world and to reflect on their own beliefs, values and experiences.  We also include and promote British values, ensuring that children are aware of their rights and responsibilities as UK citizens. We value the religious background of all members of the school community and hope that this will encourage individuals to share their own experiences with others freely. All religions and their communities are treated with respect and sensitivity and we value the links which can be made between home, school, and a faith community. We are extremely lucky that we have such a diverse community to draw upon and we aim to use this as a strength within our curriculum. We have strong links with All Saints’ Church and visit the church regularly for services at special times of the year. Our Parish Priest, Father Antonio, visits the school regularly to take part in collective worship and other important school events. Children also have the opportunity to deepen their understanding in RE through talking to visitors and trips to other places of worship. If you are considering withdrawal, we encourage you to speak with us so we can answer any questions and explain what this would mean for your child.
Inclusion We are an inclusive school that strives to create a challenging learning environment in which every child can achieve their potential. We promote an atmosphere of encouragement, acceptance, respect for effort and achievements with sensitivity to the individual needs of all children. Every teacher is a teacher of children with special educational needs. As a parent, you are the expert about your child and if you are concerned that he or she has special educational needs, we encourage you to come and share your concerns with the class teacher. Similarly, if we identify difficulties, we will want to discuss them with you. Your child’s class teacher and our Special Educational Needs Co-coordinator (SENCo) will meet with you so that we can act together to respond to the needs of your child and ensure that they receive high quality personalised provision. We believe that early identification and intervention are paramount in supporting a child’s special educational needs. We set individual targets and match them to teaching strategies in order to address any difficulties. These targets are reviewed regularly with parents and relevant staff in line with our Special Educational Needs Policy. We work closely with many outside agencies to address the needs of children including those with sensory impairments, speech and language difficulties, motor co-ordination, learning or emotional and behavioural difficulties. Across the school we use nurture groups to support children who may be experiencing social and emotional difficulties. “Disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs make good progress and achieve well because their evolving learning needs are carefully assessed and effective support is provided to accelerate their learning”
