Curriculum Highlights

English: balance of literacy and literature; preparation for Common Entrance; small mixed-ability classes; strong reading and writing; library. Music: daily music integration with chorister training; instrumental lessons (piano plus another instrument) with supervised practice; school orchestras and ensembles; regular concerts and tours; music theory and history. Art: weekly lessons in a dedicated art studio; visiting specialist; development of creativity and technique; accessible for use outside lessons. Sport: football, hockey, cricket in respective terms; outdoor activities like kayaking and climbing in summer; extensive facilities including archbishop’s park provisions. PSHE: PSHE taught via Jigsaw programme; assemblies and awareness weeks; pastoral care integrated into curriculum. Drama/Outreach/Experiential Learning: drama productions; outreach performances in local settings; visits to theatres and exhibitions. Music and Performing Arts integration: emphasis on combining choral, instrumental, and performance opportunities across the curriculum.

SEND Provision

There is a learning support teacher who visits weekly; additional educational assessments can be requested and the cost of educational psychology reports is borne by parents.

Admissions Criteria

Boys typically start in Year 4 (around age 8). Admissions involve an informal hearing followed by a formal audition; visits to the school and academic/ musical tasks are part of the process. The school is not academically selective and looks for musical potential, a clear voice, good ear, and willingness to learn. There is also an option to visit Chorister Experience days and discussions with the headteacher.

Financial Information

Bursaries: Available

From September 2025 the school fees will be £3,903.34 per term. Fees are heavily subsidised by Westminster Abbey (80% subsidy; parents contribute about 20% for board and lodging).
