Religious Education is a weekly lesson allowing children to study and explore different religions. Year group visits to places of worship are part of the curriculum. The school teaches about different religions to develop religious literacy and to help students understand beliefs and practice in a diverse society.
Welcome to John Ball Primary School. The Headteacher, Jacqui Noakes, welcomes families to a warm, diverse and inclusive school community where they hope visitors will find everything they need and feel invited to tour the school.
Breakfast and After School Club operates in the KS1 hall during term time from 7.30am - 9am and 3.15pm - 6pm and includes healthy breakfast and snack, multisport, team games, arts and crafts, indoor activities, supervised outdoor play and a dedicated homework area. An early years provision runs in the nursery building to 5.45pm. Superkids also run on-site holiday clubs from 7.30am to 6pm throughout all holidays, except Christmas. Sessions are led by a team of childcare practitioners who have many years of childcare experience between them and additional skills including sports coaching. Superkids is Ofsted registered and encourages families to check if they are eligible for Universal Credit support of up to 85% of childcare costs. The SEND policy outlines how the curriculum is made accessible for those with additional needs, including the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle, involvement of the inclusion team, potential EHCP processes, use of external agencies when needed, and support for emotional wellbeing and personal development. Safeguarding is integrated across the curriculum as part of the school’s approach to addressing pupils’ needs.
Reception admissions priorities (in order): 1) a child in public care; 2) exceptional medical or social need; 3) a child whose brother or sister is still on the school roll; 4) proximity of home to the school. Nursery admissions are managed by Lewisham with 39 full-time places and part-time options. In-year admissions are dealt with through Lewisham; information on fees, eligibility and processes is provided. The school also notes information about secondary transfer processes and open days.
Nursery fees are £10.65 per hour. Other fees may apply; prices are subject to annual review. There are 30 hours of funded entitlement and potential for 30 hours nursery care upon eligibility.
