SEND Provision

Coopers Lane provides a resource base for Deaf children (Centre for the Deaf) and a full SEND provision, including an extremely well-resourced SEND space (Bond Street), a dedicated sensory room, visual timetables in every class, in-class workstations, group rooms for intervention, a Teacher of the Deaf, a Communication Support Worker, a Signing Teaching Assistant and a Speech and Language Therapist. The school uses soundfield systems in most rooms with radio aids where appropriate, and runs Deaf Awareness and a KS2 signing choir. There is a commitment to multisensory, inclusive approaches to learning and to meeting EHCP targets where relevant.

Admissions Criteria

Nursery and Reception admissions follow Lewisham Council arrangements. Priority order: (1) Children in care (including adopted or subject to residence or special guardianship orders); (2) Children with exceptional medical or social needs (supported by professional documentation); (3) Children whose brother or sister (including half/step/foster siblings at the same address) are on the roll of Coopers Lane; (4) Children living closest to the school (straight-line distance). In exceptional circumstances priority may be given for acute medical or social need with professional written support. Appeals can be made under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998. Nursery applications are via the school office; Reception applications online at www.eadmissions.org.uk; In-Year applications via Lewisham Admissions; Secondary transfer details with key dates (e.g., National Offer Day, etc.).

Financial Information

Breakfast Club: £7.00 per day (or £2.00 per session for pupils eligible for the pupil premium). Afternoon Tea Club: £15.00 per session with £11.00 for each additional sibling. Music instrument lessons: Drums £57.00 for 10 lessons (group of 4); Piano £153.00 for 10 lessons (one-to-one).
