Curriculum Highlights

Mastery-based curriculum design with a two-year rolling programme for KS1 and KS2 across core and foundation subjects. Use of the CUSP curriculum as the basis to meet National Curriculum aims from EYFS to end of Phase 3, including Reading, Writing, Spelling, Science, History, Geography, Art and Design, Design and Technology and French. 4 Core Principles (The 4C’s): Cumulative progression; Coherence of concepts; Conscious connections; Context. Explicit vocabulary instruction and focus on disciplinary literacy; knowledge organisers; retrieval practice; interleaving; and a strong emphasis on reading at the heart of learning. Two-year cycle for KS1/KS2 and EYFS alignment; clear learning objectives and links between subjects; unit-based progression with end-of-block knowledge targets. Explicit teaching routines with a six-part lesson structure (Connect, Explain, Example, Attempt, Apply, Challenge) to support long-term memory. Assessment through block-end tasks, low-stakes quizzes, and teacher reflections to guide further teaching (QLA).
