Head Teacher's Message

Our school is based in the vibrant and diverse community of Hackney, East London. We provide a rich and exciting curriculum to develop the confidence and enthusiasm for learning that will take our pupils through secondary school and beyond. We are part of the Viridis Federation and welcome visits with weekly tours. Headteacher: Ms Felicity Headen; Executive Headteacher: Mr Stephen O’Brien.

Curriculum Highlights

Maths: Mastery approach with models/images; concepts built through varied, progressively challenging problems; daily fluency sessions; curriculum delivered as a cyclical progression from Reception to Year 6. Maths: Aims to develop fluent number sense and the ability to recall and apply mathematical knowledge rapidly and accurately; emphasis on reasoning and solving problems. Music: National Curriculum-aligned; singing, playing instruments, composing and performing; opportunities to learn keyboard, guitar, drumming, violin, clarinet and flute; progression across EYFS to KS2; enrichment through trips and visitors. Art & Design: Art and DT taught in half-term blocks; study of diverse artists; six core units per year; art displayed around school; cross-curricular opportunities. History: Curriculum organized around five concepts (Where and When; Society and Settlement; Beliefs, Activities and Cultures; Significant People; Causes, Changes and Consequences); use of artefacts and high-quality texts; enrichment through artefacts, trips and visits. Religious Education: Covers Christianity and other principal religions; introduction of Humanism; enquiry-based learning about traditions, beliefs and practices; promotes reflection and global awareness.

Wraparound Care

Breakfast Club: Yes After-School Care: Yes

Breakfast Club runs in our main school hall from 7.45am – 8.55am every day for a charge of £2 per child per day. After School Club runs from 3.30pm – 5.45pm every day for a charge of £12 per child per day.

Admissions Criteria

Nursery for children who have turned 3; Reception for entry in the September following the child’s 4th birthday; In Year admissions applying at any other time.
